Located in the southern tip of Africa, The Republic of South Africa borders the Indian and Atlantic Ocean . It is a diverse country that boasts a multitude of ethnicities and has eleven languages that are officially recognized in the constitution. Nevertheless English is still the most prevalent commercial language. South Africa has an interesting yet frightening history, with many hurdles and difficulties reining the country for years regarding a number of issues from the government to tribal wars to racism. In the current years it has progressed to a modern city and is constantly improving. Tourists are coming into the country and are able to recognize the country's beauty with its magnificent wildlife, breath taking scenery, warm climate and delicious food. However there are still problems in South Africa and one still has to deal with the AIDS epidemic, poverty and violence.

 

Unfortunately street violence is prominent with criminal gangs being known to attack airports and bus stations. Muggings, carjacking and xenophobic violence are common and tourists should be well aware to remove themselves from any of these situations.

 

Nevertheless, this shouldn't stop you from visiting this magnificent country. You can visit anytime of the year however June until September is possibly the best time as it's the cooler months and perfect for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
